Folk art painted bugs in Santa Fe

I saw these painted bug sculptures, or folk art pieces, in the courtyard setting of a shop called “The Rainbow Man” in Santa Fe, and really like them. I made the mistake of not checking for the artist’s name when I was there, and looked under the Folk Art features on their website, but am not able to find who made them.

I especially like this spider below; the way the dots are painted and the colors used makes me think of Yayoi Kusama’s art, although she hasn’t made any spiders that I’m familiar with. I have written on Kusama’s art before – check out this post and make sure to scroll down towards the bottom to see her large scale fiberglass-reinforced plastic flower sculptures that I saw in a gallery show in NYC.
