Trying the Tiny House Lifestyle

I’ve had a fascination with tiny houses for probably a couple years now, and have looked at countless pictures on social media and watched some YouTube videos and tv shows, and I’ve always thought it would be something I’d be interested in. I like the idea of minimizing my environmental impact, and certainly like the idea of selling my home for X amount and buying or building a tiny house for significantly less, and pocketing the cash to work less and do fun things like travel more. I’ve mentally formulated a new lifestyle plan in recent years where I might have a small and very simple “home base” and then spend more time during the year traveling or staying in other locations for extended periods of time. So with this idea in mind, maybe moving to a tiny house could facilitate that lifestyle.

But would I really like living in a tiny house? I’m a tall man, and for someone who has worked from home in the past, would I really want to spend most of my days in a tiny house?

I figured the best way to find out is to go stay in one and try it out! I found one on Airbnb a couple hours away, in upstate New York, on the edge of the Catskills – a geographic area which has intrigued for a few years as well. I’m driving up there tomorrow, and will be there for 2 nights and 3 days. Granted, that’s a short stay, but it’ll provide me with an initial taste or feel for what it’s like to live in a tiny house.

My pictures above are A.I. generated as I don’t want to cause any problems for myself by irritating my Airbnb host by posting pictures of the place online – the host may not like that, but perhaps I’ll get a better feel for her thoughts on that once I’m up there (since I could promote it). I’ll definitely follow up with some details on my experience. I’m really looking forward to having this experience.
